A Star Is Born
Years ago, a dear friend had cancer... The star started as a wish for my friend and her baby.
She battled her cancer and was in remission when she became pregnant. Her pregnancy made her stronger and more determined to live her life fully. She wanted her baby more than life itself.
She gave birth to a son. I made him a quilt.
I wanted to include something in the quilt that would give her child a sense of power, hope and encouragement. I wanted it to symbolize for him how much his mother loved him, and always would.
And so the star was born. I embroidered a tiny star onto her son's quilt. I now include the secret star on each of my quilts.
It's A Secret
Each quilt has a tiny star hidden somewhere within the pattern of the quilt. No two stars are in the same place. When you look at one of my quilts you won't see the star right away. I stitch it in thread of the same color as the background of the quilt. To find your star you need to feel it.
Your Secret Star
The secret star on each of my quilts has become my signature . Over time, it has become the heart of the quilt. Each quilt has a special star which brings hope, warmth, and encouragement. When you wrap yourself in a quilt, a beautiful dream waits there for you.
